Magic Makers Ball to Benefit Camp Kesem

Recently, we had the pleasure of photographing the Magic Makers Ball at the Skirball Cultural Center. This event was to benefit the organization Camp Kesem. If you've never heard of them, (and to be honest, I hadn't when I was approached about shooting the event) Camp Kesem is an organization that provides support and counseling for the children of cancer patients. One of their main purposes is to send the kids to summer camp, where they can bond with other children who are going through the same terrible situations at home, but more importantly - where they can just be kids. It was a wonderful event, fun and bright and at the end of the night, the benefit had raised more than twice what they'd set as their goal for the evening. We always love working with organizations for events like the Magic Makers Ball, it's great to be able to use our talents for such a worthy cause!

Here are some of the highlights from the evening:

Forest Stewardship Council Awards at the Grammys

We recently had the good fortune to photograph the annual awards ceremony for the Forest Stewardship Council during the Greenbuilt Convention here in Los Angeles. Not only is this a fantastic organization dedicated to preserving forests and natural habitats around the world, but they held their awards ceremony at the Grammy Museum at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles. What a fun location to photograph in!

We at Luxe are always happy to help capture the events for organizations that do such great work!

Here are some of the highlights:

Star Wars Celebration 2015

Adding to our ever growing list of amazing event coverage, we had the fortunate opportunity to shoot at the annual Star Wars Celebration, this year held at the Anaheim Convention Center. The four day event took place the third weekend in April and was a huge event. Completely sold out, the fan celebration featured everything from props and replicas from the original Star Wars trilogy to every bit of the expanded Star Wars universe - kicking off with a live streamed panel featuring not only director JJ Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy but the featured members of the upcoming episode seven, Star Wars, the Force Awakens as well as the original cast, including Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels.

A variety of very creative cosplayers came out in droves as well as fans from all over the world. The convention featured classic props from the original movies, costumes and teasers for the upcoming movie and everything in between. Even the new Stormtrooper uniforms were available for pre-sale, from the well-known prop and replica company Anovos

A complete replica of the Mos Eisley Cantina was one of the most popular attractions.

Some of the lesser known and original cosplays were not only unique but beautiful.

Cosplayers Chrissy Lynn Kyle (Oola Bunny) and Jennifer Newman (Admiral AckBunny) were part of a larger group of bunnies that had 17 total ladies blending traditional Bunny costumes with well-known characters.

We were so glad to shoot this event for Wikia this year and look forward to hopefully being able to attend next year's event in London, England.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

This summer, Luxe had the opportunity to photograph some amazing events - including events surrounding San Diego Comic Con. We have a lot in store this coming fall, but as the summer comes to a close, we wanted to share some of the amazing things we photographed.

What a gorgeous way to travel to San Diego - in a vintage train car on the Amtrak Coastliner Route. Wikia provided a beautiful trip for it's fans and users.

After an amazing trip down to San Diego, we had so much fun photographing panels, the exhibits and the people at Comic Con. Can't wait to go again next year!

E3 2014

Last week, we had the amazing opportunity to shoot for Gaijin Entertainment at the annual E3 Electronic Entertainment Expo here in Los Angeles.  It was such a fantastic time. Not only did we spend a wonderful day on Wednesday hanging out at the War Thunder booth with the Gaijin team, but we had some time to wander the expo and check out the other amazing games and tech being unveiled.

What amazes me is the painstaking detail that some of the game companies put into their displays - whether it was the two different tank replicas brought out by World of Tanks or the full size Titan standing watch over the convention or the massive drooling Goliath from Evolve that greeted you as you walked into the South Hall of the LA Convention Center. E3 has something for everyone.

Here are just a few of our photos:
